BMW N54B30 engine modifications

1. N54B30O0 (2006 - 2010 onwards) - base engine with 306 hp. at 5800 rpm, torque 400 Nm at 1400-5000 rpm. For versions with index 35i.

2. N54B30 (2008 - 2012 onwards) - version for BMW 740i and 335si, 326 hp. at 5800 rpm, torque 450 Nm at 1500-4500 rpm. Differences from the standard in the fan, radiator and ECU firmware.

3. N54B30T0 (2010 - present year) - 340 hp version. at 5900 rpm, torque 450 Nm/500 Nm Overboost at 1500-4500 rpm. The differences between the N54B30T0 are the improved cooling system (fan, radiator) and ECU firmware. The engine was produced for the BMW 1M and BMW Z4 E89 sDrive35is.

The powerful N54 twin-turbocharged inline-six was developed by Alpina in 2006 for fast civilian cars and BMW crossovers. The basis was an aluminum cylinder block M54B30 with cast iron liners, covered on top with a new cylinder head with a Bi-VANOS variable valve timing system on the intake and exhaust shafts and direct fuel injection. The diameter of the intake valves is 31.44 mm, exhaust valves 28 mm. Characteristics of camshafts on N54 (intake/exhaust): phase 245/261 lift 9.7 mm. There is no Valvetronic valve lift system here. Supercharging is realized using two Mitsubishi TD03-10TK3 turbochargers, blowing in parallel, each into its own three cylinders. The boost pressure on a standard engine is 0.55 bar. Siemens MSD 80/MSD 81 engine management system.

The N54B30 engine was used in BMW cars with the 35i index (40i for the 7-Series). In addition, the engine was used by Alpina, modified to 360 hp. and 400 hp options.

A replacement for the engine came out in 2009, when the Munich team introduced a new generation of in-line turbocharged six - N55B30.
